Which firmware should I be running in order to be compatible with running the SxSxSDHC adapters?
You must be running Sony® EX camcorders with firmware 1.11_0531 or 1.12. All EX camcorders produced post August 2008 will have the appropriate firmware in place. If your camcorder has not yet been updated with the current firmware, you will not be able to use the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter...you can ask you Sony® dealer to upgrade your camcorder firmware.
What over cranking limitations are involved with using the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter system?
Over cranking up to 720p/48fps without issue. We have captured 60 fps for about 15 seconds before an error message occurs. We suggest that if you know you are going to overcrank, then use the SxS card that came with your camera. For all of your other shooting you can use the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter system.
How reliable is the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter system?
Well over 50,000 hours of successful video capture has taken place using the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter system.
Is the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter system stable enough to use in a professional environment?
EX camcorders will not know the difference between an SxS card and a RAW SxSxSDHC adapter. You will find that the inexpensive SDHC card sold by mass merchants will be the unstable element that you might add to the system. We recommend using Hoodman RAW SDHC memory found only at photo dealers or on the Hoodman website...RAW SDHC memory is the only memory built in the USA. RAW has Zero infield failures that pros have come to depend upon.
Why should I use a SxSxSDHC card instead of a Sony® SxS card?
Cost savings is the major benefit to using the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter system. The £45.00 adapter will enable you to use SDHC memory for instance the Hoodman RAW 16GB SDHC card at £85.00.
What is the warranty on the SxSxSDHC Adapter?
Twelve (12) months warranty against manufacturer defects from date of purchase.
What other SDHC memory cards are compatible with the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter?
We recommend using Hoodman RAW SDHC memory as it is the only memory built in the USA. RAW has zero in-field failures and pros have come to depend on it.
There are other USB 2 based express card adapters available that will work in the EX cameras...Why should I use the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter?
The RAW SxSxSDHC adapter was designed specifically for use in the Sony® EX camcorders...Other express card adapters are too big to allow you to close the camcorder memory compartment door.
Will the RAW SxSxSDHC card download as quickly as the SxS card?
Yes and No, The SDHC card uses USB based speeds for downloads which peak at 480 mb/second. If you load an SxS card through you USB port, it is the same speed, 480 mb/second. Downloading an SxS card in your computers express card slot will transfer at 800 mb/second.
Can I use the express card slot in my computer to download the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter system?
Yes. The SDHC card will load through the express card port via the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter @ 480 mb/s speed.
Can I eject the SDHC card out of the RAW SxSSDHC adapter and use my SDHC reader to download into a USB port?
Yes, you must use and SDHC to USB 2.0 reader...and old SD reader will not work with an SDHC card. Hoodman RAW SDHC 16GB memory cards come with an SDHC reader included.
I have a Sony® SBAC-US10 SxS to USB reader...can I use this to download the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter system?
No. Sorry to report that the systems are not compatible.
Can I use 2 RAW SxSxSDHC adapters in the camera at the same time?
Yes. You can hot swap them as well. Just like the SxS cards.
When I want to swap my SDHC memory in my RAW SxSxSDHC adapter, should I eject the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter from my EX camera first?
Yes, whenever you replace the SDHC memory in your RAW SxSxSDHC adapter it is recommended that you eject the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter from your camera and then swap the SDHC memory cards. Breaking the SDHC memory link while the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter is still in your camera may cause the camera not to recognize the new memory and will require you to eject the RAW SxSxSDHC adapter and reinsert the system complete with SDHC memory on board.
How long will it take a RAW 16GB SDHC card to download via the RAW USB-SDHC reader that is included in the package?
The Hoodman RAW 16 GB SDHC card maxed out at 57 minutes of video took 17 minutes to download via our RAW USB 2.0 reader.

"Media restore error"
This message occurs when the camera has not completed writing the TOC (table of contents) for the file has just written. This error has two main causes:
1) Ejection of the card before it completes writing the TOC, i.e...before the slot light turned green from red.
2) The writing speed of the SDHC card is too slow.
